SUMMER CAMPS

spend the summer with us

overview

Aquarium summer camps offer a one-of-a-kind learning experience where creativity, science, and real-world exploration come together in an immersive aquarium setting.

Unlike traditional camps, campers learn alongside live animals, explore behind-the-scenes spaces, and engage with Aquarium experts who care for animals every day.

Daily activities are rooted in observation, inquiry, and play, encouraging curiosity, creativity, and conservation awareness. Through a mix of indoor and outdoor experiences, campers build meaningful connections to animals and gain a deeper understanding of how to preserve and protect aquatic life.

creature feature

When: July 6-10, July 27-31, August 17-21

Take a deep dive into the facts about some of the ocean’s most fascinating animals!

Each day spotlights a different marine group—penguins, turtles, fish, sharks, and seals and sea lions—through hands-on activities, live animal presentations, games, and exhibit exploration. Campers learn what makes each animal unique by investigating adaptations, habitats, diets, and conservation challenges. Learning comes alive through play and discovery as campers meet animal care staff, explore biofacts, and participate in interactive experiments. By the end of the week, campers gain a deeper understanding of their favorite aquatic animals, the threats they face, and how they can help protect them for the future—one creature at a time.

journey through the depths

When: July 13-17, August 3-7, August 24-28

Calling all aspiring marine biologists! Spend a week exploring ocean science alongside the Aquarium’s experts.

Campers will get a crash course in Marine Bio 101, learning about the importance of water, the differences between freshwater and saltwater, and why water quality matters for living organisms. Throughout the week, campers investigate exciting careers by meeting aquarists, animal trainers, and veterinary staff – all while seeing firsthand how aquariums care for animals and support conservation. Campers gain hands-on experience through water experiments, microscope investigations, habitat exploration, and behind-the-scenes lab access. By the end of the week, campers will have a deeper understanding of our blue planet, how scientists study it, and why it is so important to preserve and protect ocean ecosystems.

art in the ocean

When: July 20-24, August 10-14

Nature is an artist, and the oceans are filled with masterpieces!

Join us for a weeklong camp that blends creativity, science, and hands-on exploration inside the Aquarium and outdoors in the surrounding state park. Campers will dive into design basics like shape, color, and pattern while observing real animals and their habitats. They’ll experiment with techniques such as sponge painting, weaving, glow-in-the-dark art, and collaborative installations. Along the way, campers learn age-appropriate marine science concepts—from coral symbiosis to bioluminescence—while expressing their ideas through imaginative artwork. The week culminates in Ocean Heroes Day, where creativity and conservation come together to inspire a deeper appreciation for protecting our oceans.
