Interested in a career at a zoo or aquarium? Take the first step by working with our talented and knowledgeable team at an AZA-accredited facility. It’s a great way to find out if this field is the right fit for you. Aquarium internships provide specialized experiences to recent college graduates and advanced students. Please note: All internships are unpaid. Interns must have their own housing and transportation.

Education and time commitment requirements vary by position. Certain positions may have additional requirements. Please review the individual internship descriptions for details.
Education internships offer opportunities to hone public speaking skills and develop educational content for audiences of all ages and backgrounds. Interns also receive unique training in animal handling for various educational programs.
Internships with the Aquarium’s Marine Mammals & Birds department offer opportunities to work with some of our most charismatic animal ambassadors: California sea lions, harbor seals, grey seals, and Humboldt penguins.
F&I internships offer opportunities to work with some of the most unique animals at the Aquarium: jellyfish, sharks & stingrays, corals, and many species of fish.
